Ridge to Bridge 2008 is in the books and the results are in! Congratulations to each and every runner for an outstanding performance. Some may not have met the goals they wished to achieve, but everyone who lined up for the start on a dark, cool Saturday morning in Jonas Ridge, NC accomplished something, intended or not: you're now officially a member of our family, and we're glad to have you.

Before we mention the outcome of the race, let us first express our heartfelt sympathy to Colette Simonetti of Asheville, for whom the race was over almost as soon as it began. Colette turned an ankle not far from the start and had to withdraw; the swelling was a strong indication that it probably hurt, but it was the pain in her eyes that told the whole story. Get well, Colette, and come back next year.

Bobby Aswell from Cornelius, NC stayed on his feet and completed the course faster than anyone else. His 3:04:10 proved good enough for first place overall, with almost two minutes to spare.

Tracy Brooks of Harrogate, TN returned this year and lopped more than ten minutes off the PR she ran here last year. Tracy was our top female finisher (and 5th overall!) in a course record 3:12:45.

In all, 145 runners completed the course yesterday, with our final runner coming across the finish in 6:27:05. Anya Huneycutt of Shelby, NC shaved a full twenty minutes off her previous best and arrived to the cheers of her family and a small crowd of volunteers and runners. Congratulations, Anya.
